Nicki told Access Hollywood today that not only is she trying to tone down her diva behavior, but that she and Mimi's differences won't explode into a full on war. Instead, she said, the slight clashing will make for an exciting judging panel.
"It's obvious that we both have strong personalities, but ultimately, there's respect there and I think if nothing else, it'll make for really great TV," she said.
"Yes—knowing me—there'll be a slap somewhere in this season!" she said, but also added that she doesn't want to indulge in that side of her personality.
"You know what; I'm just trying to nullify my diva-ness right now. I just wanna not be a diva at all," she said.
As for Mariah, the Pink Friday singer said she bonded to the songbird's music as a kid.
"Mariah's a legend and I just want to say that… I'm sitting next to a woman who I've looked up to since I can remember enjoying music," she gushed.
For her part, Mariah isn't so much concerned with downsizing the diva as she is whittling her waistline.
"Mariah's told pals she wants to be a size 8 when Idol starts. She's cut out salt, sugar, and oils and is focusing on portion control," a source told UK magazine Closer. "She's having veggie juice in the morning, then chicken or fish with salad for lunch and dinner."
