Osama bin Laden has been killed by U.S. armed forces in Pakistan. President Barack Obama appeared live before the nation to announce news of the targeted attack that took the life of the mastermind behind the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001.
An impromptu celebration erupted outside the gates of the White House as US citizens learned of the news. Crowds in Lafayette Square in the nation’s capitol chanted, “Yes we did.” And millions of Americans recalled where they were nearly 10 years ago when the Towers fell.
“The fight against terror goes on,” said President Obama. “But tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.”
