Dexter Isaac made a confession posted on AllHipHop.com (via Washington Post), which indicated he was paid $2,500 to rob the rapper outside of Quad Studio in NYC. During the robbery Tupac was shot, however Isaac didn't indicate who actually pulled the trigger. In fact, to this day seventeen years later the crime is still unsolved.

Dexter is currently in prison for life with a charge of murder, robbery, fraud and witness intimidation charges. He was not charged with Tupac's robbery but the shooting began a deadly feud which ended up with not only the eventual murder of Tupac Shakur in 1996 but Notorious B.I.G. as well.

The prisoner apparently confessed to bring their mothers some peace of mind. "I want to apologize to his family Tupac Shakur and for the mistake I did for that sucker Jimmy Henchman. I am trying to clean it up to give Tupac and Biggie's mothers some closure."

Jimmy's actually currently on the run from federal officials and indicated that Dexter was cooperating with the government against him regarding supposed drug dealing. He decided to come forward now to clear his conscience and also prove Jimmy's involvement. According to the law, since the statute of limitations has already expired, no one can be prosecuted for the robbery.

Needless to say, the NYPD is looking into the inmate's claim.
