With Blake Shelton as her coach, it should’ve been no surprise that rocker Cassadee Pope released a country album, Frame by Frame, after her big win on The Voice. What is a surprise, even to Cassadee? Just how successful it’s been. Her track “Wasting All These Tears” has cracked the country top 10 and earned her two CMT Music Award nods (alongside the likes of Taylor Swift). And she recently joined big guns including The Band Perry and Toby Keith to record “Give ’Em Hope,” a single to benefit food charity Outnumber Hunger.
“To be able to use this career to give back means a lot to me,” she says. “It was a no-brainer.”
OK! Magazine: Are you in touch with Blake?
Cassadee Pope: We text to congratulate each other on achievements. It’s nice that he’s still invested as a mentor. And I admire everything [his wife] Miranda Lambert stands for.
OK!: Who is your biggest idol?
CP: Martina McBride. I met her at the ACM Awards, and she’s really sweet and humble.
OK!: How’s touring with Tim McGraw?
He’s incredible—full of knowledge—but doesn’t take things too seriously. He picks on himself, which is awesome.
