Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s relationship seems to be on the mend, but just a few weeks ago friends and family weren’t sure the couple would even make it to celebrate their third wedding anniversary. According to Life & Style, Kim and Kanye’s marriage was at such a low point that they went through a trial separation. Despite people’s assumptions that Kanye’s break from the public eye has been due to his 2016 breakdown, the mag reports it’s had more to do with his “crumbling marriage.”
“They want you to think that Kanye just needed a break from fame and Hollywood,” a Kanye insider told the mag. While he did want time away from the spotlight, “he also wanted a break from Kim and his life with her.”
According to the mag, their separation lasted at least six weeks, during which Kanye was reportedly in Wyoming working on his next album while Kim (whose publicist denied the story) stayed in their home in Los Angeles, caring for their two children, North, 3, and Saint, 1.

The source now claims Kimye is ”trying to make it work,” following their six-week break, “but there are a lot of problems between them. It’s an on-going struggle.”
Despite their issues, the insider said Kim “really wants to give their marriage one more shot. She hopes the trial separation will make them realize how much they do love each other.”
