In the very first episode of “Jersey Shore,” which aired on Dec. 3, 2009, Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi entered the now-infamous shore house for the very first time and proclaimed, “Party’s here!” From that moment, an epic party that would last the gang six seasons — and a brief obsession with the “Snooki Poof” — began.
Thankfully, Sammi lives up to her nickname and convinces Snooki not to leave the house after she got a little too drunk and embarrassed herself in front of her new housemates. “I’ll be your friend if you, like, need me to be there for you,” Sammi said. As we all know, Snooki decided to stay, but we can’t say the same about Angelina Pivarnick, who leaves the house after being fired by Danny for not showing up for her shift or calling out sick. Here, she gathers the garbage bags she uses as luggage (how economical!) and takes off.
In what remains perhaps the most-talked about “Jersey Shore” episode of all time, a supremely unevolved human being punches Snooki in the face while the gang is out at a club. Her new family immediately pounces on him, and they all become closer because of the incident.
For season 2, Jersey Shore heads south (but only in terms of geography, not entertainment value!). Everyone is surprised to find that Angelina will be joining them in Miami. Here, Sitch reacts to Angelina’s request to share a room.
Things are complicated between Sammi and Ronnie when they arrive in Miami, but eventually Ronnie proclaims they are back together. Confusing, then, that he still acts like a single man when he goes out with MVP. Sammi tortures herself wondering what Ronnie does when she’s not around, and Snooki and JWoww decide to leave her a note telling her “the truth” about Ronnie’s actions. “This note pretty much tells me that Ron gets with fat chicks, hooks up with girls, holds hands with girls, got a girl’s number… every f***ing thing Ron has done to me here.” It causes mass tension (obviously) and things aren’t the same between the girls for a long while.
Angelina decides to leave Miami. This time she has luggage, so it’s easier. She packs her bags but lingers, waiting for the roommates to get home so she can tell them she’s “not leaving because of them.” She gets herself into a knock-down, drag-out fight with Snooki, and Mike helpfully moves furniture so that the girls can rumble on the floor. Angelina would only return to the show for “random” guest appearances for the remainder of the series.
The premiere of season 3 marks the debut of Deena Nicole “Blast in a Glass” Cortese, a pal of Snooki’s who likes taking shots and taking off her underwear. She makes quite an impression on Mike (and the rest of America) when she, uh, “accidentally” got naked in front of him her first night at the house. Oh yeah — we’re back in Jersey.
After Jenni breaks up with boyfriend Tom, she and Snooki go back to her house to check on her dogs and find that her hard drive and a number of other things have been stolen. Dun dun dunnn. Then, she starts dating Roger, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Sammi literally adds insult to injury when she dances with another guy at the club in an attempt to make Ronnie jealous. He leaves, goes back to the shore house, and destroys all of Sammi’s stuff. It was scary. Then, he cries. Sammi sees what he’s done, and she cries. Then, Sammi leaves the house. She eventually comes back, and continues to argue with Ronnie, particularly over a dude named Arvin from home. By season’s end, they have decided to be “just friends” but we all know how that turned out.
Mike tries to start a relationship with Snooki, who declines because she has a boyfriend named Jionni back home. When Snooki and Jionni fight, she hooks up with Vinny, which does not, repeat, not please Mike. He eventually claims that he also hooked up with Snooki, but his case has never been proven and is currently under review by anyone who really, really cares and has little else to do.
Mike and Ronnie have a fight over Mike’s behavior, and Mike is ejected from the house on a stretcher after ramming his head into a concrete wall. Ouch. In other horrible run-ins of season 5, Snooki ran into a police car.
Vinny decides to leave the shore house at the beginning of season 5 to deal with anxiety issues. Pauly D helps him pack even though he doesn’t want him to go. It’s all very sweet. Even better, Vinny eventually returns. Mike leaves and returns this season, also. Drama, drama.
At the end of season 5, Mike permanantly damages his relationship with Snooki when he tells Jionni that he hooked up with Snooki when they were together. Jionni doesn’t believe Mike, and Jionni impregnates Snooki (eventually).
Season 6 has been quite tame in comparison to series as a whole: a pregnant Snooki moved into her own shore house next door, and her relationship with a now-sober Mike continues to be awkward. Ronnie and Sammi are happy. JWoww and Roger are happy. Deena and Chris are happy. Vinny is celibate and happy. Pauly D has sat back and watched everyone be happy. It’s sure to be an emotional goodbye for this group, who have indeed become family. Tune in tonight!
