Into the Wild star Emile Hirsch was humbled to be presented with the Male Star of Tomorrow award at the Motion Picture Club Luncheon held in NYC. The up and coming actor of films such as the Girl Next Door told OK!, “I’m very grateful and excited and very thankful to Motion Picture Club for going out on a limb for me.”
He continued, “You know you can never expect stuff like that. This is just cool stuff that happens after the fact, a by-product of the work I guess.”
Also honored was Hairspray breakout star Nikki Blonsky who was bubbly to get an award for Breakout Star of Tomorrow. “It’s very exciting, I mean I know how much fun I had making this movie. Just the fact people are having fun watching it and acknowledging it really means the world to me. I thought having the movie was the ultimate, but the fact that people are enjoying it takes it to a whole other level.”
“I think Tracy just speaks to everybody,” she told OK!, “I think there is a little bit of Tracy in everybody. I don’t think they are really excited about my performance. I think they are just excited about Tracy, but if they are excited about my performance then that means a lot to me.”
Also in attendance was everyone’s favorite ’80s sitcom mom, Phylicia Rashad, who presented an award. A taping of her Broadway hit A Raisin in the Sun will air early next year. She told OK!: “I think it’s pretty good and the producers are very happy with it. It seems that the network, NBC, is very happy with it as well. It’s a very honest filming of the play.”
Claire Danes, who was also honored, did not speak with the press.
