NFL star Patrick Mahomes got engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, on Tuesday, September 1 — the same day he received his Super Bowl LIV ring. “Ring SZN @brittanylynne,” Mahomes captioned a photo of his new fiancée showing off her fabulous new engagement ring on his Instagram Stories. 

The elated bride-to-be later shared behind-the-scenes pictures of the NFL star’s proposal, which happened in a VIP box at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. “This happened today,” she wrote, revealing the room was filled with gorgeous white and red roses with an illuminated sign that read, “Will You Marry Me?”

Sticking with quarantine guidelines, the couple later returned home to enjoy a candlelit dinner in their backyard. “My heart is so full! I love this man so incredibly much and today was so so special!” Matthews captioned a photo of the setup on her Instagram Stories. “Couldn’t imagine this day being anymore perfect!” 

Of course, friends showered the couple with love on social media. One friend wrote, “Congrats to this amazing couple — true partners in a committed, loving bond — on their engagement.” Another pal added, “My girl is engaged and I’m so happy I could cry.”
