Tiger King star Joe Exotic has filed an emergency 257-page appeal to be pardoned from prison. Joe had been sentenced to 22 years in jail for his involvement in a murder-for-hire scheme, but he has lost some much weight that it could seriously affect his health.
“Regarding Joe's appeal, he filed it in April of this year and his lawyers are currently working on that, in addition to the pardon efforts. He has a huge team of high-profile lawyers that have taken his case on a pro bono basis. Other volunteers are managing his social media and fan groups, all pro bono,” sources told OK! exclusively.
His lead attorney is Texas-based Francisco Hernandez, who also represented the president of Mexico.
A source told OK! that Joe’s weight has gone from 179 pounds to under 150 pounds.
“He has talked a lot about the abusive conditions in prison in all the fan mail he answers. I know that he has lost 33 pounds and that the prison denied him treatment for his medical conditions for months and his health is not good, which is another reason it's critical for him to be pardoned.”
It recently surfaced that Joe has been the victim of several abuses while in jail and has even petitioned President Trump to set him free.
“I have been sexually assaulted by jail staff, beat up and tied in a chair to the point the skin came off my arms. please be my hero ... my hands are damaged from the abuse in jail so I'm sorry for the soppy (sic) writing and spelling,” he wrote in the letter to Trump.
