James Desborough is an international correspondent on Hollywood who provides commentary to British media outlets and has interviewed Geldof in the past. He expressed how shocked Brits are by the news, as they are more aware of Geldof's work. "There is a huge amount of shock, surprise, and sadness," he said. "Despite her very open description of her early life, a lot of people thought her life was in a good place at this time. She was very happy being a mother to her two kids... She had reached a level of contentment in her mid 20s."

Yes, Geldof had done some drugs in the past. But she wasn't the typical train-wreck socialite in the Lindsay Lohan vein. "She had access and was in circles where the use of drugs was normal. She was a party girl, but not a party girl to the extent where she was the life of the party," said Desborough. "She wasn't collapsing or falling over."

Plus, as the mother of two babies, that phase of her life was long over. "She has openly spoken in the past about trying out drugs. That was one facet of her life," said Desborough. "By no means was she an addict. By no means was she at a point in her life where it felt on the brink of anything fatal."

There has still been speculation that Geldof was dabbling in drugs again. She loved social media, and the day before she died, she posted a throwback photo of herself with her mother, who died of a heroin overdose. Was this an ominous commentary on her mental state? "She posted lots of family photos, and often wrote about the connection with her mother. She felt like her mother was with her in her life," said Desborough. "She felt, in whatever form, that her mother was looking over her." Also, Geldof posted multiple sweet Instagram videos of her babbling babies right alongside the photo on Sunday.

The statements from Bob Geldof and Peaches' husband Thomas Cohen were unspeakably sad, with Geldof wondering aloud, "How is that bearable?" "Without a doubt, that was one of the most poignant and powerful statements I've seen in my career," said Desborough. "It summed up the feelings of many towards Peaches, and how they saw her. That family has been struck by tragedy far too many times."
"He was immensely proud of what his daughter had achieved," said Desborough, disagreeing with the idea that Bob and Peaches has a strained relationship. "At age 25, her resume was astonishing... She was articulate, bright, intelligent, but fearless and bold as well."
