A nine-person jury was selected Monday in the Bahamas for a trial involving two defendants who allegedly tried to extort $25 million from John Travolta with a document relating to the death of his son, Jett Travolta, according to the Associated Press.
Former Bahamas senator Pleasant Bridgewater and paramedic Tarino Lightbourne are charged with threatening to reveal a document that would have released emergency responders from liability in Jett's death -- which ended up not even being a factor as the family did not refuse an ambulance at the time. Jett, who had a history of seizures, died at 16 at the family's vacation home on Jan. 2.

It's possible that John could testify in the case, set to begin hearing evidence tomorrow, as he's on a list of 14 witnesses against the defendants.
Bridgewater and Lightbourne have both been free on bail, and have pleaded innocent to charges including conspiracy to commit extortion.
