Katy Perry 'Part Of Me' Trailer Released: Songwriting is Her 'Mad Diary'

Only two days after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show defending the decision to show her messy split from ex-husband Russell Brand, Katy Perry's Part of Me theatrical trailer hit the web.

While there's no mention of Russell in the under two minute snippet, we get a good look at Katy's rise from evangelical Christian singer to the campy, technicolor pop star we know and love today.
"Songwriting and making these records are the truth of who I am," she says in the video. "What makes me laugh, what makes me cry — it's a mad diary."
She reveals her goal in performing — "to make people smile"— and how it's really been perseverance over any kind of luck that's turned her into the superstar she is today.

"There was a lot of the word "no" being sent my way and I just never accepted that," she told Ellen DeGeneres earlier this week. "It was overcoming a lot of people in the industry telling me it wasn't going to work."
