16 & Pregnant fans are still reeling over the news of former star Jordan Cashmyer's sudden death at only 26 years old — but her baby daddy clearly doesn't share the same feelings.
Cashmyer's unexpected passing was confirmed on Sunday, January 16, although the details surrounding the cause and manner of her death have not yet been revealed.
Derek Taylor — who shares daughter Genevieve "Evie" Taylor with the late TV personality — is catching heat for a "heartless" comment he made on Twitter regarding Cashmyer 's death.
After one user tagged Taylor in a tweet, writing "I'm really sorry for your and your daughters loss," Cashmyer's former boyfriend responded with a strikingly cold reply.
"We didn't lose anything," he fired back, according to the Instagram account @teenmomshaderoom, which featured a screenshot of the thread on Sunday.
Fans were quick to express their shock at Taylor's pointed response, with commenters calling his statement "terrible" and "heartless," while others argued that "he should've just stayed silent" on the matter.
However, some users in the comments section insisted that Taylor's feelings were valid, considering the status of Cashmyer's relationship with Taylor and his daughter at the time of her passing.

As OK! previously reported, Cashmyer and Taylor had a turbulent relationship during their appearance on season one of 16 & Pregnant, as they battled homelessness and disapproval from Cashmyer's parents before calling it quits after the show.
In 2015, Cashmyer signed over custody rights to Taylor's mother while she dealt with her addiction and mental health issues. Later in 2017, she was working as a dancer at a strip club when was arrested twice for cocaine and heroin possession.
"He's blunt, but not wrong," another user wrote on the post, claiming that Cashmyer "hadn't been involved in her daughter’s life in years."
In the years before her death, Cashmyer was reportedly trying to turn her life around, and celebrated one year of sobriety in January 2021, just one year before her death.
Despite the user's coming to Taylor's defense over Cashmyer's alleged lack of involvement in her daughter's life, fans still argued that Taylor's comments were "disrespectful" considering her death, and that regardless of his feelings toward his ex, "it's still death and it's still sad."
Others also pointed out that Cashmyer "dealt with mental health issues, suicidal thoughts, etc…that shit takes a toll on a person. She needed help."
Cashmyer's death was confirmed by her father, who revealed, "Last night I received a call no parent ever wants," in a post on Facebook. "My oldest beloved daughter, Jordan has passed away, she was only 26 years old. Our hearts are truly broken."
"No parent should ever have to go through losing a child, EVER," he continued. "Please keep my family in your thoughts prayers as we navigate through this terrible tragedy."
