Benny Blanco opened up about dealing with "imposter syndrome."
The music producer appeared on "The Mel Robbins Podcast" on Thursday, September 3, where he discussed the first time his now-wife, Selena Gomez, asked him out, and the list he created to manifest her.
'So, Was It Even on Your Radar?'

Benny Blanco 'had so many things' he 'wanted to do' that dating was not on his 'radar.'
Blanco began, "I always wanted to do so much. I wanted to fulfill my destiny. I had so many things I wanted to do, and I realized over time it doesn't have to happen overnight."
"So, was it even on your radar?" Robbins asked him about his relationship with the pop star. "I mean, you guys knew each other for 15 years, which I find to be really interesting."
'She Asked Me Out'

Benny Blanco said he had 'imposter syndrome' after Selena Gomez made the first move.
Blanco confessed, "No, she asked me out. There's imposter syndrome. I didn't even think of it. It wasn't even on my radar as if it would be a date. And then when we were on our first date, she's like, 'Well, I wouldn't have worn this if it was our...' And I said, 'Date? Oh, wow. Okay.' And then I'm thinking about it like that."
"I always think those are the best type of relationships when you're friends with someone and you know them, and then once you are there, it's like there's not too much to learn," the "Eastside" collaborator continued.

'I Wrote a List With My Therapist'

Benny Blanco confessed to 'doing something wrong' before dating Selena Gomez.
The 38-year-old also discussed how he figured out exactly what he was looking for.
"How did you get clear about what you actually wanted? Because you said something that struck me about really understanding how you wanted to love and be loved," Robbins asked Blanco.
"I wrote a list with my therapist. I said, 'I really want to find the right partner and I'm doing something wrong. I can't find the person that I'm gonna spend the rest of my life with, and I want to do that," he shared.
'I'm With My Best Friend'

Benny Blanco claimed it is important to 'find someone that's both nice to themselves and nice to you.'
"First, he said, 'I want you to write down what you think your ideal partners should be.' And these were, like, broad things," the Grammy winner added. "The first thing on my list was age-appropriate. The second thing on my list was someone who's nice...The third thing on my list was, I wanted someone who woke up generally happy...And if they were sad, they were doing something about it."
Blanco continued, "You need to find someone that's both nice to themselves and nice to you. I think you need to find someone that you can imagine spending the rest of your life with. You're essentially trying to find your best friend."
"Can you be fine staying home and not going out with any of your friends and not having FOMO because you're with the best person in the world? Because I know I can. I'm with my best friend," he gushed about Gomez.
