NEWSCBS News Star Matt Gutman Accused of Sexual Harassment by Ex-ABC Producer

CBS News chief correspondent Matt Gutman is facing a sexual harassment lawsuit.
Former ABC News field producer Samira Said filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the TV Network on Friday, August 14, in Los Angeles Superior Court, naming Gutman.
Former ABC Producer Named Matt Gutman in the Lawsuit
Samira Said claimed Matt Gutman made 'sexualized' remarks when they worked together.
Said, who worked at ABC from 2021 to 2025, alleged she was fired after requesting medical leave and accommodations on multiple occasions while suffering from health issues.
The filings, obtained by Variety, read, "Following her medical leave and accommodation requests, Plaintiff was subjected to materially adverse treatment than she had experienced at any time prior to engaging in protected activity."
She also claimed that Gutman, 48, made "sexualized" remarks toward her that contributed to a hostile work environment.
Neither Gutman, CBS News or ABC News has publicly commented on the lawsuit.
'Continuing to Assess the Woman’s Body and Looks'
Samira Said mentioned an 'inappropriate' conversation.
According to the court documents, the producer claimed that she was "placed on a male-only team" with Gutman and two other members after she was hired.
"While the team waited in a public queue during the assignment, Gutman initiated a discussion rating a female correspondent’s appearance and reducing her professional standing to a numerical score based on her physical attributes," Said’s lawsuit states. "The male crew joined in, continuing to assess the woman’s body and looks in Said’s presence. The men attempted to draw Said into the conversation by soliciting her views. Said declined and stated the conversation was inappropriate."

'Reduced Her Professional Judgment to a Sexualized Stereotype'
Samira Said and Matt Gutman once disagreed while filming.
On a separate occasion, during a press day, Said says she and Gutman "disagreed about whether the team should leave the work site. In front of multiple coworkers, Gutman responded by making a sexualized insinuation that Said must have an after-hours date in the city and that this is why she did not want to relocate."
"The remark, made audibly to others, demeaned Said and reduced her professional judgment to a sexualized stereotype," the court documents continue.
Matt Gutman Worked at ABC for 15 Years
Matt Gutman started working at CBS in January.
Gutman worked as ABC News' chief national correspondent for 15 years before moving to CBS News in January.
