'Charlie's Angels' aired from 1976 to 1981.

"Some tabloids tried to drum up conflict among the three of us. For example, they liked to perpetuate this idea that we were jealous of each other. Not true," she wrote. "Another rumor was that we fought each other for more screen time. It was just too predictable to try to pit women against each other. The truth was, we fought for each other to have less screen time."

Fawcett, who died at 62 in 2009, left the series after one season to pursue more serious roles. Cheryl Ladd joined the cast in Season 2, taking Fawcett's place alongside Smith and Jackson, 77.

"Kate had a hard time with Farrah gone," Smith explained about Fawcett's departure. "No one could replace her."

Jackson left after the show's third season in 1979 and was replaced by Shelley Hack for Season 4, then by Tanya Roberts for the final season.

Smith also recalled an NSFW moment with Roberts, who died at age 65 in 2021, when they were on a flight to Hawaii to shoot the series. In the memoir, Smith wrote that Tanya had an open marriage with her husband, Barry Roberts, and "wasn’t shy about it in the least, or about propositioning people to ‘swing’ with them."

Smith revealed that her costar asked her to join her and Barry for a threesome. Though she declined, Smith found Tanya's "honesty about her sexuality to be brave and self-aware."
