"Cher is nit-picking every detail, but to be fair, it's her story—and she wants to get it right!"
This isn't Cher's first go around. Her life was recently adapted for a Broadway musical, The Cher Show, which is set to begin touring the United States in fall 2021. It is possible that producers may draw both inspiration and music from this previous adaptation and implement some of the structure for the upcoming movie, but that seems to all depend on Cher.
Responses from fans in regards to the upcoming film have been incredibly positive so far, but some wonder whether this portrayal of the star's life will truly be authentic if Cher herself has the final say on all aspects of the film. It also begs the question: how will her exes be portrayed?
The biopic will be co-produced by Judy Craymer and Garry Goetzman, who also produced both film adaptations of Mama Mia!. Award-winning screenwriter, Eric Roth, known for his work including The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and Forrest Gump is set to write the script.
