13 Men Cher Dated — From Warren Beatty to Alexander 'AE' Edwards
Warren Beatty
Cher met Warren Beatty when she was 16 years old, and they briefly dated afterward. Their romance seemingly fizzled out months later, but they spoke about it several times during interviews.
In 1988, the "Strong Enough" singer told Playboy magazine that she "f----- Warren Beatty" and joined the long list of people he dated.
"I did it because my girlfriends were so crazy about him, and so was my mother," she said. "I saw Warren, he picked me up and I did it. And what a disappointment! Not that he wasn't technically good, or could be good, but I didn't feel anything. So, for me, I felt, 'There's no reason for you to do that again.'"
She also told Elle they met when he nearly hit her car.
Sonny Bono
In 1962, Cher met Sonny Bono at a party in Los Angeles, Calif. Although it was not love at first sight, she told Parade in 2010 that she saw him as the coolest guy ever.
Sonny did not feel the same as he reportedly did not find Cher very attractive, but they later wed in 1964. Five years later, they welcomed their child, Chaz Bono.
In the years thereafter, their relationship started hitting rock bottom because of infidelity and Bono's controlling behavior.
"Stardom made Sonny a huge womanizer," she continued. "One woman, or even five, was not enough for him. I found all this out afterward. I asked him, 'How did you manage the logistics?' I was trusting and faithful with him. The truth is, I'm not so sure we should've ever been husband and wife."
Cher filed for divorce in 1974, citing "involuntary servitude." They finalized the dissolution of their marriage the following year.
David Geffen
On September 20, 1973, David Geffen — one of the club owners — officially opened The Roxy, where he and Cher met.
Tom King's 2000 biography The Operator: David Geffen Builds, Buys, and Sells the New Hollywood revealed that the businessman wanted to take her on a date as soon as they met. The "Believe" singer also told the author that her then-beau asked her to marry him.
However, they called it quits after Cher left him for Gregg Allman.
Gregg Allman
A few days after her divorce from Bono was finalized, Cher tied the knot again soon after meeting Allman. Their relationship ended as fast as it started since she filed for a dissolution of marriage nine days after their union due to his heroin and alcohol addiction.
They reconciled afterward and welcomed their child, Elijah Blue Allman, in 1976.
Unfortunately, they ended things for good in 1979.
Before Allman's death, Entertainment Weekly reported that he once said that he and Cher's marriage had no future because of her constant paranoia about him going back to abusing alcohol.
Gene Simmons
For two years, Cher had the best time with Gene Simons, as she called their relationship "the best one" she ever had.
"I think I have a very masculine attitude to dating," she told People in 1979. "Gene might spend time with another woman and stay the night, but he wants her to leave in the morning so he can get on with his day."
In 1979, the "After All" singer ultimately lost the KISS singer to her best friend Diana Ross.
Val Kilmer
Cher and Val Kilmer remained friends even after they broke up in the 1980s.
The duo dated for two years, starting when they met at a birthday party, but they soon realized that they were better off as friends.
"Val is terrific but sometimes it's just too intense and hot," Cher said. "[But he's] sensitive, artistic, [has a sense of] humor and he is a great kisser. My rule of thumb, and it's never failed me, is if a man's a good kisser he's a great f---."
Joshua Donen

In 1985, Cher started a private romance with movie producer Joshua Donen. They also lived together in Malibu until they called it quits shortly after.
Despite their relationship ending too soon, Cher called their relationship the "most serious" one since her last marriage.
"I still really love Joshua and I see him all the time," she went on. "I just didn't want to be with him anymore as a girlfriend."
Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise became the next Top Gun actor Cher dated years after their first meeting at Madonna and Sean Penn's wedding in 1985. She was 39 while he was 23 when they ignited their romance.
"He was so wonderful," she told Oprah Winfrey. "And he was so, like, different ... He was a shy boy. He didn't have any money."
According to Cher, they stopped dating because of their schedules. Still, she named Cruise in the top 5 list when Andy Cohen asked her to list her best exes in 2013.
Rob Camilletti
During her 40th birthday celebration, Cher saw "Bagel Boy" and aspiring actor Robert Camilletti at a café in Manhattan with Kilmer. In 1989, she revealed in an interview that she was only affected that way twice in her life.
"Rob made my heart do something weird," she recalled. "There's something quite electric and thrilling about it — you only want this one person and you throw everything else out of the window." She added that Camilletti was "the most well-adjusted man" she had ever been with.
They called it quits in 1989 due to the intense media scrutiny their relationship received.
Richie Sambora
Cher and Richie Sambora shared a brief relationship after working as collaborators on different projects, including her 1987 album Cher. They called it quits in 1992 due to their busy schedule.
Tim Medvetz
According to the Daily Mail, Cher and The Heroes Project founder Tim Medvetz met in 2008 and were bonded by their love of Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Their relationship only lasted until 2010 because of Cher's touring schedule.
The "I Got You Babe" singer's sons helped them to reconcile their romance and successfully made them patch things up. After rekindling their romance, they sparked engagement rumors that were dismissed afterward.
Ron Zimmerman
After her romance with Medvetz, Cher found Ron Zimmerman on Facebook and immediately fell for him.
"[On my friend's page] there was this really funny guy, who said the weirdest things," she revealed during a sit-down interview on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno. "Like, under religion, it said 'Zeus.' He's very strange but the funniest person you ever met." Of course, Cher had to use a Facebook account with a fake name when contacting her romantic interest.
Although Cher had been open about their romance, the public had no idea when the duo officially called it quits.
Alexander 'AE' Edwards
Cher found her new beau at the Paris Fashion Week in 2022.
The Goddess of Pop and Alexander "AE" Edwards, who is 40 years her junior, made their relationship red carpet official on March 9 at Versace's Los Angeles fashion show. They briefly split in May but rekindled their romance four months later.
