Chris Watts' New Lover Says Convicted Killer 'Knows' How She 'Feels' About Him Murdering His Family: 'Harsh for Anyone to Experience'

Lizzie Henderson, the 39-year-old woman who has reportedly applied to marry convicted killer Chris Watts from prison, stated, "He knows how I feel," when asked about his horrific 2018 family murders.

Speaking with reporters regarding the public backlash over her relationship, Henderson brushed off external opinions, noting that while she understands people find the arrangement "weird," her private discussions with Watts cover those details.

When contacted by the Daily Mail, Henderson, they reported, “Spoke in a scattered manner and her responses were often disjointed. She confirmed she was in a relationship with Watts and admitted that it could be perceived as 'weird.' On how they met, she said: 'How things began is between me, him, and God.'"

When asked about Watts’ heinous crimes, Henderson vaguely replied, “How I feel about it? He knows. He knows how I feel. I don't know all the people involved, but I would want to respect them.”

Henderson, with whom Watts has reportedly been seen engaging in “steamy” prison make-out sessions, appeared to downplay the gruesome crimes, telling Daily Mail the crimes were “harsh for anyone to experience.”

A prison eyewitness told the tabloid that Henderson was "googly-eyed" and seemingly smitten with the inmate, who has been known to engage in pen pal affairs with multiple women.

“They hugged their whole ten seconds while they were kissing,” the witness said, adding she heard Watts say goodbye, to which Henderson gushed, “I can't wait to see you again. I love you.” Watts replied: “I love you too.”

Henderson, a former realtor from Cleveland, Ohio, relocated to Wisconsin to live near the Dodge Correctional Institution, where Watts is serving his sentence.

Logs indicate she has visited Watts at least 20 times over 15 months, including a contact visit on Christmas Day in 2024.

Henderson’s own family was shocked when they found out who her new fiancé was.

“She told me that he was serving time for committing a murder, but she made it seem like the person he killed stole something or [did something to wrong him],” her brother Johnny Henderson, in an Ohio prison for sexual assault, told the Daily Mail.

When the tabloid explained who her boyfriend was, he exclaimed. “Oh, s---!. I am shocked. That is kind of bad. It is kind of messed up; it is more shocking.”

The couple has officially submitted a marriage request through the prison system, and Henderson has already been seen wearing what appear to be wedding bands.

In August 2018, Watts strangled his pregnant wife, Shanann, and smothered their two young daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3, at their home in Colorado.

He transported their bodies to a remote oil site owned by his then-employer, burying his wife in a shallow grave and dumping his daughters into crude oil tanks.

Watts pleaded guilty to the murders in November 2018 to avoid the death penalty and is currently serving five consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole. He was later transferred to a Wisconsin facility for security reasons.
