The drama between Clare Crawley and Matt James seems to be far from over.

After reports that James had reunited with ex Rachael Kirkconnell, but was also speaking to another woman beforehand, the 40-year-old Bachelorette seemingly took a swipe at the season 25 Bachelor.

"Clare Crawley tried to warn bachelor nation about Matt James don’t forget! Lol," one fan tweeted, which Crawley retweeted with shrug and smug-faced emojis.

James was originally due to appear on Crawley’s season of The Bachelorette, which was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic, only to later be announced as Bachelor Nation’s first Black Bachelor.

"If you are doing interviews and creating Cameo accounts before you are even on my season... you are in it for the wrong reasons... #dontwasteyourtime," Crawley tweeted in April 2020, which seemed to be a dig a James, who was doing press at the time.

However, Crawley later clarified that the tweet was actually not targeted specifically at James. "It was about MULTIPLE men and a general thought I was having while we sit here in a real life crisis where someone’s (everyone’s) time + sincerity hold so much weight and value," she explained.

James finished his season by asking Kirkconnell to be his girlfriend, but called it quits after old social media posts and images of Kirkconnell at an antebellum-themed formal surfaced online as the season was airing.

"They’re not officially back together," an insider told Us Weekly of the former flames’ NYC reunion. “She reached out to Matt to see if he would be open to meeting with her. They’ve been communicating this whole time and she’s been updating him on how she’s been educating herself.”

Last week, a woman named Grace Amerling claimed that James was speaking to her days before he asked Kirkconnell to come to New York, PEOPLE reported.

"Rachael is very emotional right now because she was very hopeful that things were going to work out. She’s still trying to process this," another source spilled, while a third insider said James was not looking for a romantic relationship with his ex after calling it quits.

Kirkconnell feels that James broke her trust, according to one insider, but "understood why he publicly said he couldn't see a future with her because of what she had done and the responsibility he felt as the first Black Bachelor, and she supported him."

It seems as though Kirkconnell has been getting a lot of mixed messages from her ex-man. "He's been telling her he loves her and has never felt this way for anyone else before. After the scandal, he said it would take time for them to work on themselves separately, but he wanted to get back together one day and still pictured a life for them together, with a family and everything," said an insider

Kirkconnell previously confessed that James was the love of her life, while he admitted on the After The Final Rose special that Kirkconnell needs to learn and grow from her mistakes by herself "and that's why we can't be in a relationship."

Kirkconnell also issued an apology for her past "racist" and "offensive" actions at the time and has promised to use her platform to share antiracism resources.
