Forget the Botox: Courteney Cox’s recent Instagram post raised enough eyebrows.
On Dec. 1, the 57-year-old uploaded a time-lapse video of herself getting camera-ready before doing press for Scream. But while the actress credited her glam team (“Takes a village,” she quipped), her 11.9 million followers couldn’t help but notice her tightly wound “before” look.
One fan commented, “What exactly did your plastic surgeon do to your face because you don’t even look the same,” while another follower lamented, “Oh dear so much surgery she’s unrecogniseable [sic].”
Those in the Friends alum’s inner circle tend to agree. “It was shocking seeing how stretched and plastic she looked,” a source close to the Cougar Town actress admits.
“There was no real expression on her face, and her cheeks were plumped up,” continues the source, noting that the tweaks would be hard to blame on Instagram filters. “The evidence was pretty damning.”
“Courteney’s a beautiful person, inside and out, but she’s had insecurities since the early days of fame,” dishes a source.

The star — who shares daughter Coco, 17, with ex-husband David Arquette — previously confessed that she began getting “a little injection here or filler there” on the advice from doctors.
However, after opting to dissolve her fillers upon coming across photos of herself looking nearly unrecognizable (saying “I’d see pictures and think, “Oh, is that what I look like?”), she claimed in 2017 that she was “as natural as I can be.”
In truth, the 57-year-old has a lot riding on her good looks: Not only is she promoting the anticipated horror flick and filming the new miniseries Shining Vale, but she relies on digital dates to maintain her long-distance romance with Irish rocker Johnny McDaid, 45.
“It’s like she’s become obsessed with her appearance and it’s gotten worse over the pandemic,” confides the source. “There’s a lot of competition in Hollywood, plus Johnny is much younger than she is, and that’s only fed her insecurities.”
Friends hope the Ace Ventura: Pet Detective actress will nip the procedures in the bud before it’s too late. “They see this as a cry for help,” says the source. “They’re telling her to embrace her natural beauty before she gets to the point of no return.”
