Keaton’s cause of death was recently made public.
"The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11," her family shared. "She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her."
An insider revealed that even those closest to Keaton were clueless about how serious her condition had become in her final months.
"Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening," the source explained. "Her health declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her."
“In these last few years, she kept a close circle, and she liked it that way,” another source shared. “She had this way of making even ordinary moments feel special. That was just who she was.”

Those who saw her around her Los Angeles neighborhood recalled how her daily routine slowly changed as her health declined.
"Up until just a few months ago, she’d walk her dog every day," one local shared. "She was usually dressed the same, with a hat and her signature sunglasses regardless of the weather. She was always very nice, funny and chatty. She’d talk to her dog like he was a person. She was eccentric and had this old-school Hollywood aura. She was very, very special."

Diane Keaton allegedly left $5 million to her dog, Reggie.
Keaton is survived by her two children, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25, and her beloved dog, Reggie. Reports revealed that the star set aside $5 million from her $100 million estate for her golden retriever’s care.
"Reggie was her world," a friend told Rob Shuter's Substack. "Diane used to joke her great loves were her children, Al Pacino, architecture — and that dog."

Those close to Diane Keaton described her as 'eccentric' and 'loving.'
The arrangement ensures Reggie will be cared for throughout his life, with part of the funds going to animal charities.
"She wanted Reggie to live with the same dignity and humor she did," a second insider said. "It’s the most Diane thing ever — eccentric, kind and deeply loving."
