Diane Keaton's Shocking Cause of Death Revealed

Diane Keaton's cause of death has been revealed.

Just four days after the actress passed away, a news outlet confirmed that she died from pneumonia at age 79.

"The Keaton family are very grateful for the extraordinary messages of love and support they have received these past few days on behalf of their beloved Diane, who passed away from pneumonia on October 11," a statement from Keaton's family read. "She loved her animals and she was steadfast in her support of the unhoused community, so any donations in her memory to a local food bank or an animal shelter would be a wonderful and much appreciated tribute to her."

According to an insider, Keaton's health "declined very suddenly, which was heartbreaking for everyone who loved her." Her death "was so unexpected...especially for someone with such strength and spirit."

Before she passed away in California, she was surrounded by her closest family, who kept her suffering private during her final months.

"Even longtime friends weren’t fully aware of what was happening," the source revealed.

One insider detailed how her daily life changed as her health began to decline.

"Up until just a few months ago, she’d walk her dog every day. She was usually dressed the same, with a hat and her signature sunglasses regardless of the weather," the source shared. "She was always very nice, funny and chatty. She’d talk to her dog like he was a person. She was eccentric and had this old-school Hollywood aura. She was very, very special."

The Annie Hall leaves behind her two children, Dexter, 29, and Duke, 25, as well as her dog, Reggie. According to a recent report, she allocated $5 million from her $100 million estate to her golden retriever.

"Reggie was her world," a friend told Rob Shuter's Substack. "Diane used to joke her great loves were her children, Al Pacino, architecture — and that dog."

The money is to ensure Reggie is properly taken care of for the rest of his life, with a portion also being donated to animal charities.

"She wanted Reggie to live with the same dignity and humor she did," a second insider said. "It’s the most Diane thing ever — eccentric, kind and deeply loving."

Diane's ex Woody Allen paid tribute to the late movie star with a moving essay.

"It’s grammatically incorrect to say 'most unique,' but all rules of grammar, and I guess anything else, are suspended when talking about Diane Keaton. Unlike anyone the planet has experienced or is unlikely to ever see again, her face and laugh illuminated any space she entered," he wrote.
