Dolly Parton's Walk of Fame Star Vandalized, Set to Be Replaced After Star's Death

Dolly Parton's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was allegedly vandalized.

As Ana Martinez, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce's senior vice president of media and talent relations, told L.A. news station ABC7 on September 1, the star was already scheduled to be replaced because of existing cracks when it was vandalized.

In the wake of Parton's death, several fans paid tribute to her by leaving flowers and other memorabilia at the star.

Per reports, the damage occurred after fans' tributes were cleared from the star ahead of the planned work.

As Martinez told TMZ, a fan reported on August 31 that someone had scratched the star and stolen the flowers.

The star was dedicated to the country music legend in 1984.

As seen in the video posted by KNX News this morning, the red star was removed altogether, leaving behind a hollow square in the sidewalk.

A few hours later, a photo of the restoration progress was shared by the Hollywood Historic Trust on Instagram.

The Trust maintains the stars on the Walk of Fame.

In the photo, a blank red star was placed in an otherwise empty square.

The post's caption read, "The Hollywood Historic Trust and Hollywood Chamber of Commerce are proud to honor the legacy of Dolly Parton with a replacement of her star. The new star will be available for viewing this Friday."

Blogger Lore Corona also contributed to cleaning the defaced star, sharing a video of her and her daughter using their shoes to drag a towel and wipes around the sidewalk.

In a Threads post shared on August 31, she wrote, "When we arrived a custodian was cleaning and told us a woman kicked candles around then with the shards of one scratched the star. Then a man came and stole the flowers that were there. He left soon after we got there and we got to work."

She also added, "This was so sad but we should follow her lessons to always be kind and loving. We were honored to love on her."

Parton passed away on August 25 in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 80 at the time of her death.

As her family announced, she died at the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center following a brief battle with cancer, though they did not release details about the exact type of cancer.
