Dolly Parton’s Gravesite Was ‘Crawling With Cops’ Ahead of Memorial: Source

Dolly Parton’s family might have quietly said goodbye to the country music legend, just days after her heartbreaking death at the age of 80.

Around a dozen of Parton’s closest relatives reportedly gathered at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville on the morning of August 28, carrying flowers and arriving in several cars. The group appeared somber as they made their way into the cemetery, where she was laid to rest, per Page Six.

Among those present was Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, who served as her longtime head of security and previously announced her death on behalf of the family. Seaver appeared to be in charge of the arrangements, coordinating with police and security personnel and greeting family members as they arrived.

The gathering was kept private, but an insider gave the outlet a glimpse into the scene shortly before the icon’s relatives arrived.

The gravesite was reportedly “crawling with cops,” according to the source, while one officer was overheard saying, “The family is en route.”

A source later confirmed that Friday’s gathering was, indeed, the legend’s funeral.

“Bryan was in charge of arrangements,” the source said, revealing that “it was a very simple ceremony.”

“That’s all Dolly wanted,” they added.

That simplicity appears to have been exactly what Parton had envisioned. Her representative previously said that she wanted a “small and private service” attended by “immediate family.”

Parton was laid to rest next to her late husband, Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 at age 82. The couple had been married for nearly six decades after first meeting outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat shortly after the “9 to 5” hitmaker moved to Nashville as an 18-year-old.

Their shared resting place had already been prepared before the funeral. By Wednesday, the “Jolene” singer’s name had reportedly been added to the bronze frontispiece of their tomb, which features a peaceful mountain scene inspired by their Tennessee roots, per the outlet.

Parton’s niece, Lainey Mae Parton, later confirmed the burial in an emotional Instagram post.

“This is a really hard post for me to make,” she wrote, explaining that she waited until after her “granny was laid to rest” before putting her feelings into words.

“She always had a way of making me feel like I was enough,” she continued, adding, “She never made my dreams feel too big or made me feel like I couldn’t do something. She believed in me before I even knew how to believe in myself.”

She also revealed just how special the Queen of Country was to the family, saying, “Most people can think of at least one bad memory with everyone in their family. I honestly can’t think of one with her.”

“It still doesn’t feel real that she’s gone. I’m going to miss her voice, her laugh, her hugs, and just knowing she was there," she added.
