COUPLESDominic West's Wife Catherine FitzGerald Says They're 'Totally Devoted To Each Other' Following Lily James PDA Scandal
It seems that things are A-OK between actor Dominic West and his wife, Catherine FitzGerald, who recently reminisced on her whirlwind love affair with her husband following some questionable pics that emerged last year of him and actress Lily James.
The landscape designer, 50, met her 51-year-old husband of 11 years in her home country of Ireland while they both attended Trinity College Dublin, she told the Irish Independent in an interview published on Sunday, May 16.
"We had a wonderful love affair," she described of their college romance. "We would look over Dublin, reading poetry to one another with the mountains in the distance. We had all the time in the world to explore the pubs and back streets and walk the canal.

"But at the end of the summer, I left him, and he has not let me forget it! But I couldn't have settled down with him right then forever,” she added. “That would not have been a good idea for either of us."
However, the two found their way back to one another through a mutual friend. FitzGerald pointed out that it was the “right point” in their lives. "There's something about having lived a full life before settling down — I felt I could throw myself into family life and having babies with gusto. And I really went for it, having four in seven years!"
The two wed in 2010 and share Dora, 15, Senan, 13, Francis, 12, and Christabel, 7. West also has a daughter Martha, 23, from his previous relationship with Polly Astor.
The designer also shared how the marriage had some serious “ups and downs” but also noted, “we are totally devoted to each other and to our full, vibrant family life together."
The two made headlines last year after West was seen out and about with (and getting questionably close to) costar James. In October of last year, a source exclusively told OK! that James did not want to be responsible for messing with his marriage.
"Lily doesn’t want to be known her whole life as a home-wrecker. It was only a few months ago she was spotted getting very friendly with Captain America star Chris Evans in a London park, and now she’s seen kissing a married man in Rome. This scandal could end her career," the insider dished at the time. "It was in everyone’s interests that Dominic go back home immediately and be seen with his wife, which is exactly what Lily wanted to happen."
Luckily, the Affair actor and his wife are not letting anything get in between them. Following the shocking pictures, the two spoke out to London’s press with a handwritten note, reading: "Our marriage is strong and we're very much still together. Thank you. Catherine and Dominic."
