The Biological Father Of Eminem's Adopted Child Stevie Laine Reportedly Died Of Cocaine & Fentanyl Overdose
The biological father of Eminem's adopted child Stevie Laine reportedly died of a cocaine and fentanyl overdose.
Eric Hartter died in August 2019, Radar Online reported at the time. His mother reportedly found him dead in an abandoned home in Detroit.
According to the autopsy report obtained by The Sun, the 40-year-old died of a cocaine and fentanyl overdose. His death was ruled as an accident.
"Postmortem toxicology disclosed cocaine breakdown products and fentanyl within the blood. The combined use of these drugs increase the risk of sudden death," the report read.
"A call was made by a family member who came by to check the location, and found the victim unresponsive with no signs of trauma," a Detroit Police Department spokesperson told Radar at the time. "A medic pronounced him DOA on scene."
Laine's mother, Kim Scott, and the rapper, who was born Marshall Mathers, split up in 2001 before they briefly remarried in 2006. They first got hitched in 1999, having met in 1988. Eminem legally adopted Laine in 2005.
The estranged couple shares 25-year-old daughter Hailie Scott. The "Stan" singer also adopted daughter Alaina, 28, who is the daughter of Scott's late twin sister.
The 19-year-old recently posted a TikTok where they seemingly accused the 48-year-old singer of not being transparent about their adoption. In the since-deleted video, the teen donned glasses and a grey hoodie sweatshirt as the Adventure Time song "Remember Me" played.

"He's not your real dad. You're adopted. No he is my real dad. You're my real dad right? Am I adopted?" the teen captioned the video. The video then explained that Laine was sent an article about the tattoo artist's passing which they showed their grandmother. "I'm sorry they wouldn't tell you about him," she was quoted as replying to Laine.
A family source told The Sun that the Hartter family will "always love" Laine and would welcome them if they wanted to learn more about their biological father.
This comes after Laine's mom attempted suicide last month, days after her own mother, Kathy Sluck, passed away. Scott was said to be found by authorities on the floor of her bathroom with a "large amount of smeared blood" that came from cuts on her legs.
According to the 911 call obtained by The Sun, an unidentified female caller told the dispatcher she was checking in on Scott because she was worried about her safety.
The caller told the dispatcher that Scott "took a bunch of pills," cut herself and was asking her not to call the cops. The incident reportedly took place on July 30. Scott is said to have been taken to the hospital and then returned home to recover.
