'Drugs Are The Devil': Friends & Fans Mourn The Loss Of Model Harry Brant, Dead From An Accidental Overdose At 24

Jan. 19 2021, Updated 6:09 p.m. ET
Tragedy struck on Sunday, January 17, when model and socialite Harry Brant, the son of supermodel Stephanie Seymour and billionaire Peter Brant, died at 24. After news broke of his unexpected passing, the fashion world and fans of the famous family took to social media to share their condolences.
His parents explained that he "lost his battle with addiction and died due to an accidental overdose of prescription medication" in the statement they released one day after his death. "We will forever be saddened that his life was cut short by this devastating disease."
They added: "He achieved a lot in his 24 years, but we will never get the chance to see how much more Harry could have done."
The trendsetter, who unapologetically broke down barriers of gender stereotypes in cosmetics and fashion, had reportedly struggled with addiction for several years.
His model mother and successful father — who is a a billionaire industrialist, publisher and art collector — revealed that Harry planned to attend a new drug rehabilitation center so he could focus on his dream of working on the creative side of Interview magazine, which his father owns.
From fashion designers Roberto Cavalli and Olivier Theyskens to Lisa Marie Fernandez, Malan Breton, iconic French stylist Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, Perez Hilton and more, the fashion world paid tribute to Harry in the comment section of his last Instagram, which was posted earlier this month.
"You will be truly missed," Cavalli wrote, while model Lexi Boling added: "Love you forever and always my beautiful princess 💕💕." Model Hanne Gaby Odiele commented, "Love you my mischievous but sweet beautiful angel, forever miss you 😭💔💔💔," while other pals expressed their love and feelings of loss after hearing the heartbreaking news.

Shocked and saddened to hear that Harry Brant has died. How many more people are we willing to sacrifice before we acknowledge that the system is broken and addiction isn't going away?

Sending all my love to The Brant Family.

Grateful that Harry Brant’s family is open about his cause of death. Part of reducing the stigma around addiction means being honest about how this disease affects every strata of society. Addiction kills so many every year, it is a parallel pandemic. Always practice compassion. https://t.co/7sfdhQVXEZ
