Harry Styles is on a high!
The 2021 Brit Awards were held on Tuesday, May 11, celebrating the best in British and international music. Usually held in February, the ceremony was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The ceremony, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall for the fourth year in a row, was held at The O2 in Greenwich, Greater London, and included an audience of 2,500 frontline workers.
Styles was one of the many famous faces in attendance and turned heads in a groovy head-to-toe Gucci ensemble.
Taking home the award for Best British Single for “Watermelon Sugar,” the former One Direction member wore a Gucci Aria brown and mustard multi-color wool and silk double-breasted peak lapel all-over macro framed sequence print suit, styled with a pink silk crêpe shirt.
He accessorized with beige leather sneakers with oval enamel detail and metal double G and a brown leather medium top handle bag with a bamboo handle.
The 27-year-old's designer ensemble wasn't the only thing that caught people's attention that night. As he accepted his award on stage, fans quickly noted that they thought his signature thick northern English accent was missing.
"I just continue to be baffled by moments like this," the "Golden" singer began his speech in a distinct American accent. "They make me more and more incredibly grateful to be able to get to do this job every day. I’m really happy to be here and proud to be celebrating British music tonight.
"I want to thank my fans for being so generous to me always, and everyone in my life who has my back,” he continued. “Thank you so much, I love you. And all of you around there, thank you so much for everything you did for this country in the last year. We love you so much and this one’s for you."
Social media immediately blew up with confused fans.
“Where has this American accent come from???” asked one concerned observer.
"Harry Styles has got that thing I used to get when I sat next to someone in the office with a regional accent and you'd fully take it on within a week of knowing them," another quipped.
