Hayden Panettiere and Brian Hickerson were together from 2018 to 2022.

Narcan was reportedly found on the scene of her August 16 death, with Zach revealing to TMZ, "Brian gave her Narcan."

Narcan is a brand name for naloxone, a medicine used to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

"There are a lot of assumptions, speculations and accusations currently swirling," he told the outlet. "The truth will come out as the authorities complete and release additional details from the investigation. And that is important because the people who loved and adored Hayden deserve the truth."

Zach explained he went to visit the couple at their Airbnb in Greenville after not hearing from them all day.

"I exchanged messages that morning with Brian on my way [to church]. We planned on us all getting lunch and playing indoor golf after the service," he elaborated. "When I left church, I called and texted both of them. When I didn’t reach Brian or Hayden, I just assumed maybe they fell back asleep, so I drove over and went to the Airbnb."

Zach Hickerson defended his brother in Hayden Panettiere's death.

According to Zach, knocking on the apartment door woke up Brian, who let him inside. When they both tried to wake up Hayden, they realized she was not conscious.

Zach then called 911 while Brian administered the medicine through her nose.

"We then jointly performed CPR while 911 was on speaker until Fire and EMS arrived. At that point we watched as they tried every measure possible to save her life," he continued.

Police reported no signs of "foul play" at the scene, nor were there indications of "trauma" in the coroner's report.

Brian Hickerson did not appear emotional until Hayden Panettiere died.

"I am beyond heartbroken and devastated by this tragic and traumatic loss. Hayden was one of my dearest and closest friends that I loved and cared about for the last 8 years," Zach shared. "Out of respect for her loved ones, the speculation and sensationalism of her death needs to end until the facts can be released from the investigation."

According to the police report, Zach appeared "to be very emotional while EMS were working on Hayden." However, "Brian did not become emotional until EMS declared her officially deceased."

After first responders declared her dead, Brian reportedly guided them to a "bag of medication" Hayden had been consuming before she passed away.

The star had been open about her struggles with substance abuse, but the exact cause of her death has not yet been confirmed.

Hayden Panettiere accused Brian Hickerson of abuse multiple times.

Brian's lawyer released a statement on August 20 after his past abuse accusations by Hayden came to light following her past.

Brian was arrested multiple times while they dated from 2018 to 2022 for alleged violence against her. He was even sentenced to 45 days in jail in 2021 for multiple abuse charges.

"Hayden's death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow that investigation to proceed," his lawyer, Sloan Ellis, told TMZ on his behalf. "As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play."

It's unclear when the two reconnected after their 2022 split.
