Jazz Jennings Receives An Outpouring Of Love After Being 'Humiliated' By Her Family Over 100 Pound Weight Gain
Speaking her truth!
In the explosive trailer for season 7 of the hit TLC docuseries I Am Jazz, trans superstar Jazz Jennings detailed her struggle with excessive eating that caused her gain a lot of weight.
“I started binge eating, and I gained weight, and more weight, and more weight,” the 21-year-old revealed.” And now, almost 100 pounds heavier, here I am today,” she added as she faced the camera.
In the clip, the YouTube personality is seen playing sports such a kickball and tennis with her friends, but she admits that “having all this extra weight, I can’t do so many things with my body that I used to be able to do.”
She bravely takes off her shirt to reveal what she described as her “big old belly” wearing a sports bra and athletic shorts.
After jumping up to 234 pounds, Jennings revealed her family criticizes her eating habits. “I do experience fat-shaming from my family,” the activist explained. “It makes me feel really humiliated.”

Following the season 7 trailer, Jennings received an outpouring of love on social media from fans. “It doesn't matter as long as you're happy in your body,” a user tweeted, while another wrote: “It doesn’t matter about your weight people should respect you for you, you can’t change a person in less [sic] they want to change for themselves don’t be ashamed of the person you are.”
Over the summer, Jennings got candid with her over 1 million followers about her weight gain. "As many of you have noticed, over the past few years, I have gained a substantial amount of weight. I suffer from binge-eating disorder, a disease in which I’m not only addicted to food, but I eat it in large quantities. My binging, along with an increased appetite I experience from some of the meds I’m on, has caused me to gain almost 100 pounds in a little less than 2 years,” she captioned a side by side comparison snap showing her weight gain on June 18.
She continued: “I’m posting this photo because it’s time for me to address my weight gain and hold myself accountable. I’m ready to change my ways; I’ve been saying I’m ready to turn over a new leaf, but I’m running out of trees now. I’m ready to take the initiative and create positive changes when it comes to my health and body.”
Jennings underwent gender confirmation surgery in June 2019 and chronicled her post-op journey on season 5 of the series.
I Am Jazz season 7 premieres on TLC Tuesday, November 30, at 10 p.m. E.T.
