Jennifer Lopez Ended Engagement To Alex Rodriguez Because She Could No Longer 'Fully' Trust Him, Source Says
Days after Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez called off their engagement, sources say that Lopez was the one to pull the plug on their relationship.
"She insisted on it. There are too many issues that are unresolved," a pal said of the 51-year-old.
In the end, the "Hit the Floor" singer could no longer fully "trust" Rodriguez, the insider explained. While Lopez has been filming Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic, Rodriguez flew out to visit her last month days after they said they were "working through some things."
"She has been pretty miserable," the insider admitted, "and didn't think it was in her best interests to stay with Alex."
"They both liked spending more time together as a family, but it was difficult to keep that special spark when they saw each other every day," another source said, noting that the coronavirus pandemic exacerbated existing issues and they were forced to postpone their wedding twice.
However, it wasn't Rodriguez's alleged fling with Southern Charm Madison LeCroy star that caused the split. "Whether or not he has cheated doesn't matter," another insider spilled. "She won't tolerate the fear of it in the air between them."
An insider previously told OK!, "The whole scandal was a huge embarrassment for Jennifer. She is a total control freak when it comes to her image, and cheating rumors are not a good look, even when they are not true."

The 45-year-old and LeCroy were allegedly DMing, but the 30-year-old said that their conversations were "innocent" and that Rodriguez never "physically cheated" on Lopez with her.
While Lopez and Rodriguez did not end up tying the knot, their lives were heavily intertwined; the power couple shared properties together in New York, Los Angeles and Miami and also had joint business ventures together. However, "they're especially sad for the kids since they are all so close," an insider said.
"Jennifer has been in these difficult situations before. She is not one to sit around and cry," the insider said. "Her kids make her the happiest. She is doing well."
"We're always with the four kids. That's number one," Rodriguez previously said of their joint families after the pair got together in 2017 and he popped the question in 2019.
Lopez shares twins Emme Maribel Muñiz and Maximilian David Muñiz with ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Rodriguez shares daughters Natasha Alexander Rodriguez and Ella Alexander Rodriguez with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
PEOPLE was the first to report that Lopez called off the engagement.
