The one that got away? A pal tells OK! Johnny Depp has been crushing on Angelina Jolie for years, and now that she may finally be open to dating again, he’s hoping to charm his way into her heart.
Depp, 58, who shared sizzling chemistry with Jolie while filming 2010’s The Tourist — and remained close to the A-list actress over the years, according to the insider — went on to marry Amber Heard. “Word is, he’s said that in hindsight, he realizes he was settling for a poor man’s version of Angie,” spills the friend.
For her part, Jolie was declared legally single from ex-husband Brad Pitt, another former costar, after five years of marriage. The two exes have recently been fighting over legal custody of their children. (The pair, who were married from 2014-2019, share six children together: Maddox, 19, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and twins, Vivienne and Knox, 12.)

Though they split in 2016, their divorce process has been lengthy. But now that 46-year-old Jolie hinted that romance might be on the horizon when she discussed her dealbreakers in a recent interview — putting herself out there to the public — Depp is keen on making his move.
Plus, with Pitt gaining 50/50 custody last month, “she’s going to have more solo time, regardless of how she feels about the arrangement,” notes the pal.
Despite Depp’s ugly split from Heard in 2017, the actor “has by no means given up on love,” adds the friend, who says he’s been reaching out to Jolie by sending her emails and flowers. “A lot of their mutual friends think they’d actually be perfect for each other, and Johnny obviously feels the same!”
