Johnny Depp's Ex Vanessa Paradis Makes Rare Public Appearance At Monaco Fashion Show Amid Actor's Grueling Trial

While Johnny Depp has been embroiled in a nearly month-long trial with ex-wife Amber Heard, his ex Vanessa Paradis doesn't seem to have a care in the world, as she was spotted living it up in Monaco on Thursday, May 5.

The model was attending the Chanel Cruise 2023 Collection show in Monte Carlo, and in photos, she was smiling while dressed in a tweed plaid jacket, white tee and jeans. The star, 49, has been working with the high-end designer since the '90s.

Paradis' name has popped up a few times during Depp's trial, though they do have a lot of history together: the duo began dating in 1998 and welcomed two kids: daughter Lily-Rose, 22, and son John Christopher "Jack" Depp III, 20. They split in 2012, with a rep stating at the time, "Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children."

The mom-of-two's name came up in court the other day when Heard testified, as she claimed that when she and Depp met during auditions for The Rum Diaries, they formed a flirtatious friendship. When they started filming in 2009, Heard was dating someone else and Depp was still with Paradis. Two years later, when the costars had to reunite for the press tour, things sparked up again, and Depp told Heard he had split from his baby mama.

The two then "fell in love," the Aquaman actress alleged, but since the world didn't yet know of Depp and Paradis' breakup, they dated in secret, as the actor didn't want Heard to be labeled as a "home wrecker." She explained that the coparents were keeping their split on the down low to protect their two kids from a media frenzy.

Though Depp and the French model seem to have maintained an amicable relationship, it was revealed in court that the Sleepy Hollow star once called his former partner a "French extortionist c**t."
