Kaley Cuoco Cites 'Irreconcilable Differences' In Divorce From Karl Cook As Pete Davidson Romance Rumors Mount
After Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook announced their shocking split, the Big Bang Theory alum reportedly cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their divorce.
According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, the 35-year-old asked the court to terminate its ability to award spousal support to either herself or her estranged husband.
The documents were filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday, September 3, which is the same day that the former flames announced they had parted ways. In the documents, the blonde beauty asked that they separate their property with her keeping "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects" and "earnings and accumulations ... before marriage, during marriage and from after the date of Separation."
"There are additional separate property assets and obligations of each party as mandated by the parties' Prenuptial Agreement," the documents read. Cuoco did not specify the date of separation in the documents and asked that she and Cook be responsible for their own legal fees.
The actress and the equestrian were first linked in 2016. Cook popped the question on her birthday in November 2017, and they tied the knot one year later.
"Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions," the estranged couple said in a statement. "We have made this decision together through an immense amount of respect and consideration for one another and request that you do the same in understanding that we will not be sharing any additional details or commenting further."
Cuoco returned to filming Meet Cute with Pete Davidson shortly after the divorce announcement. While the pair seemed to be having a blast on set, the actress' split fueled romance rumors between the costars.
The Saturday Night Live alum was linked to Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor, but the pair reportedly parted ways last month. "When Pete and Phoebe split, there was talk that his close friendship with Kaley did play a part," an insider told The Sun.
"But now Kaley has announced the breakdown of her marriage to Karl, those around them on the set of Cute are saying they saw it coming," the source continued. "Pete and Kaley have got on incredibly well since day one, but as the weeks have passed, it’s become clear there is some attraction there."
The source explained that while the duo play a couple in the movie, the "chemistry between them is so palpable, it’s all people could talk about on set."
"When the cameras stopped rolling they’d be cracking jokes and were clearly enjoying one another’s company," the source said.
"A friendship has definitely been formed between them and they seem very tight," the insider noted.
