Kelly Ripa opened up about her friends making fun of her during the Monday, August 10, pre-taped episode of Live With Kelly and Mark, which aired while the show is on its summer hiatus.
The story came up during a conversation with her co-host and husband, Mark Consuelos, about creating meaningful interactions at a party to alleviate some of the stress that can come with hosting.
'A Conversation That Got the Whole Table Involved'

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos recalled having fun at a party last summer.
Consuelos recalled, "We had a fun party. Went to a fun party last summer and we were just hanging around the table, and somebody started a conversation that got the whole table involved."
"Oh, yes, that was fun," replied Ripa.
"One of the questions was, who was your '80s crush? It shut everything down, and people were engaged, and then they're like, all right, who has the next question?" Consuelos continued.
Ripa said, "And so Mark came up with the next question."
'Has Anybody Here Ever Stolen Anything?'

Mark Consuelos said their friends are 'the biggest thieves.'
"I said, 'Has anybody here ever stolen anything?'" Consuelos shared. "We are friends with the biggest thieves."
Ripa went on to elaborate, "Some people were like, 'Oh, in fifth grade, I stole a piece of Bazooka bubble gum from the convenience store. And then some people were like, 'I stole herbs from the grocery store today.'"
"Like, these are established people," she continued as the audience laughed.

'Everybody Made Fun of Me at the Table'

Kelly Ripa made a point to steal something after feeling 'shamed.'
Consuelos then started to poke fun at his wife, "You were the only person that had never stolen anything."
"So then everybody made fun of me at the table. I was shamed for never having stolen anything," Ripa recalled. "So then that weekend, we went on the boat. Do you remember this? And I had made tomato and mozzarella sandwiches, and our basil died. Like, we just had a bad batch of basil, and it all died."
"And the marina, they have an herb garden, and I broke off three pieces of basil. I took a picture, I sent it to the group text, and I was like, 'There, I stole some basil from the marina herb garden,'" the mom-of-three confessed.
'I Still Feel Bad About Stealing the Basil'

Kelly Ripa felt bad after stealing the basil that Mark Consuelos claimed was 'up for grabs anyway.'
"Which I think is up for grabs anyway," the Riverdale alum clarified for the audience.
"I don't know if it's up for grabs, but I just confessed; there's my confession. I stole three pieces of basil, like, three leaves. I broke them off the thing. I still feel bad about stealing the basil...It wasn't mine, and now I feel worse... Now that I've confessed it in front of all these, my closest friends," Ripa concluded.
