Lindsay Clancy Psychologist Says Accused Murderer Is 'Extremely Well-Regarded' at Tewksbury Hospital and 'Thinks of Her Late Children ‘Every Single Day'

Lindsay Clancy will remain at Tewksbury Hospital, where she's been since 2023, after a jury failed to reach a unanimous decision about whether she was criminally responsible for killing her children.

"They're very very, nice people and they do a great job," her defense lawyer Kevin Reddington said of the hospital after Clancy's case was declared a mistrial on Friday, September 4, per CNN.

As OK! previously reported, Clancy confessed to strangling her three young children in January 2023. Following the violent acts, she attempted suicide by slitting her own throat and wrist and jumping from a second-story window, which left her wheelchair-bound.

The Massachusetts mother pleaded not guilty by lack of criminal responsibility – which is essentially an insanity defense – to first-degree murder charges, claiming she was experiencing a severe postpartum psychiatric episode at the time of the killings.

Clancy has been held at the 370-bed hospital since 2023. The medical facility, which sits 30 miles north of Boston, offers "comprehensive treatment, care and comfort to adults with medical and/or mental illnesses," according to its official website.

During the trial, testimony revealed insight into Clancy's daily life in the medical facility, where she "used her phone, watched TV, played dominoes and other games, visited with her parents, engaged with staff and peers, and moved around the hallway in her wheelchair," according to court records obtained by CNN.

"She is extremely, extremely well-regarded and well-liked on that unit, by everyone," said clinical and forensic psychologist Dr. Paul Zeizal, who's met with Clancy about 60 times.

Clancy – who was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder at Tewksbury – remains on several mental health medications and under constant 1-on-1 supervision due to suicide concerns, according to her medical team.

"She's in good hands at the moment, but there's always a concern that sits directly below the surface," Zeizel told the outlet, explaining that she has "bad days and worse days."

"She does speak about her children," he continued. "She really loves them and misses them and thinks of them every single day, almost every moment of the day."

Psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack described Clancy as "miserable" and depressed about "several things," including her former marriage to Patrick Clancy.

"The remorse and sadness about the events that this case is about," Avram explained. "Her separation or estrangement from her then-husband. Her being separated from the world. Her physical injury."

Lindsay married Patrick in 2016 after three years of dating. Following their split, Patrick remarried Dr. Rachel Danis last April.
