"There was never any doubt that Tristan Thompson was the father of Maralee Nichols’ baby," her publicist told Page Six on Tuesday, January 4, noting that Thompson's previous claims targeted at Nichols wouldn't be forgotten. "Tristan made numerous false and defamatory statements and declarations about Maralee over the past few months, and she is taking his contrite statement today in the context of all of those statements."

Given that Thompson allegedly asked Nichols to get an abortion, accused her of having an STD and using the scandal to "gain" fame, threatened her over child support in court documents, insisted he didn't want to be in the baby's life if he was proven to be the dad and allegedly hid the extent of their intimate relationship, it's clear why Nichols would be less than likely to buy into Thompson's seemingly remorseful statement.

"I sincerely apologize to everyone I've hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately."
