By Her Side! Meghan Markle's Mother Doria Ragland Reportedly Pitching In To Help With Baby Lilibet
Showing her support! Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have no reason to fret over sleepless nights, now that the duchess' mother, Doria Ragland, is stepping in to help the new family-of-four.
According to a recent report, the 64-year-old — who’s said to be “overjoyed to welcome her new granddaughter” Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor — has been pitching in at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s home in Montecito, Calif., ever since the couple welcomed their second child on Friday, June 4. (The pair, wed since May 2018, also share 2-year-old Archie.)
A statement from the press secretary for the couple previously revealed Meghan and Harry's daughter’s name is a tribute to Queen Elizabeth II and the 36-year-old's late mother, Princess Diana — but it seems Lili's moniker also honors Ragland, too. The Suits alum, 39, once divulged in a post for her former blog The Tig that her mother nicknamed her “Flower” as a child.
With Harry’s family across the pond, it’s likely the two are grateful to have Ragland on hand — especially since Meghan’s relationship with her father, Thomas Markle, remains strained after the 76-year-old was caught staging paparazzi photos ahead of her wedding.

Meghan previously opened up about the incident in a March interview, noting that her father was unable to tell her the truth when she confronted him about the shocking betrayal. "I look at Archie and think about this child and I go, ‘I genuinely can't imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain to my child; I can't imagine it,’" she said at the time. "So, it’s hard for me to reconcile that.”
In comparison, the former actress praised her mother for taking the high road, despite being thrown into the spotlight amid her daughter's high-profile romance. "They hunted my mom down, and you’ve never heard her say a word," Markle said of Ragland, who resides in Los Angeles. "She’s remained in silent dignity for four years, watching me go through this."
Despite their fractured relationship, Meghan’s father still sent his regards to his daughter upon the news that she is now a mother-of-two. “I am very pleased with the announcement of the safe and healthy delivery of my new granddaughter,” Thomas said in a statement, “and I wish her and her mother all my love and best wishes.”
Page Six was the first to report that Ragland is helping Meghan and Harry after the birth of their daughter.
