President Donald Trump and Michael Cohen’s latest public exchange did not sound like two men who spent years trying to destroy each other.
Trump called into Cohen’s WABC radio show, “When You Know, You Know,” for an interview, marking a friendly turn after Cohen testified against him in Congress and in court.
Cohen, once Trump’s personal attorney and fixer, kept the tone warm in a preview that aired Thursday. He quoted a Bible verse about forgiveness, played “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” and later closed with Peaches & Herb’s “Reunited.”
The Forgiveness Tour
Michael Cohen reflected on his complicated history with Donald Trump.
“The good memories don’t cease to exist simply because terrible ones followed them,” Cohen said. “True loyalty doesn’t mean pretending that you were never hurt. Reconciliation doesn’t mean surrendering your principles or rewriting facts. It simply means deciding that your story doesn’t have to end in its worst chapter.”
Donald Trump praised Michael Cohen while addressing their past political and legal battles.
Trump framed Cohen as another target of political pressure.
“They weaponized a lot of people, and I respect the fact that you recanted everything you said,” Trump told him.
Earlier on CNN, Cohen was asked whether he was retracting his past statements about Trump.
“What was said is said, and that’s where I stand with it,” he replied.

Michael Cohen’s reunion with the president followed years of testimony and criticism.
The reunion was surprising because Cohen helped drive some of Trump’s biggest legal headaches.
He pleaded guilty in 2018 to federal crimes including campaign finance violations, tax evasion and lying to Congress, telling the court his “blind loyalty” to Trump had led him to cover up “dirty deeds.” He later testified in Trump’s hush money trial and in the New York civil fraud case against the Trump Organization.
Cohen had also called Trump “a racist, a con man and a cheat” during congressional testimony.
Old Roles, New Tone
The former allies revisited their shared history during the WABC broadcast.
On WABC, Cohen leaned into their shared history, recalling a 2016 CNN appearance where he defended Trump’s polling and asking whether the president remembered giving him “one of those traditional Trump slaps on the shoulder.”
“Boss, you remember when I was by your side? I literally used to analyze the polls,” Cohen said.
Trump used the moment to attack unfavorable polling, saying negative numbers are “rigged” and reporters are “crooked.”
