Would Mina Starsiak Hawk's Two Kids Want To Follow In Her Footsteps, Star On HGTV? She Would 'Love It'
All in the family! Mina Starsiak Hawk has worked with her mom, Karen E. Laine, plenty over the years, so would the Good Bones star's two kids, son Jack, 2, and daughter Charlie, 9 months, ever follow in her footsteps?
"I mean they have both been on the job site with me since they were probably a week old, and Jack, he’s not scared of the air compressor or the nail gun, and he loves helping me do little things at home," the HGTV star exclusively tells OK! while promoting her partnership with Bush's Baked Beans to kick off the Bush's Makes Your Summer Beautiful Contest.
"I had to patch some dry wall from our dog gate, and he was helping me with the dry wall patch and the drill. So, I mean, I would love it," she gushes. "Actually my youngest brother — I am 36, he’s 16 — is working with our general contractor this summer because he is interested, and I was like, 'Yeah, check it out, see what the different levels are, see if you actually have interest!' So, anyone who is down, come on in."
The reality star became a mom-of-two less than a year ago, and it seems like she is really soaking up her new role. "I mean, it’s just these little humans that don’t care if I am a butthead sometimes," she says. "I am mom, and I am the best thing since sliced bread and you know, just how sweet they are."
While there are good and bad days while filming Good Bones, it sounds like Starsiak Hawk has no plans on wrapping up the series.

"We have all been together for so long, there are days where we hate our lives, and there are days where we’re like, 'Oh my god, we have the best jobs ever.' Overwhelmingly, the latter is the situation — we get to do what we all like doing, it’s fun, it’s something different everyday, but it is tough, like I was very naïve when we started. I was like, 'Oh a camera is just going to follow me around, doing what I do,' and it’s a lot more complicated than that," she says. "I think we have finally gotten to the point where the business, the production, the whole song and dance, we kind of know what we’re doing seven seasons in, so we’ll just keep going as long as people aren’t bored with us."
In the meantime, the realtor is gearing up for a fun summer initiative with Bush's Baked Beans.
"As cookout season begins, everyone is getting so excited about being back out amongst people after the shutdown, and everyone I think did a lot of those big projects in their backyards — a new fence, a new deck, they have got the grill out, and now they are ready to have people over and do fun stuff," she explains. "It’s just the perfect opportunity to partner with Bush’s Baked Beans and do this really cool giveaway, so it’s going to be one person that wins up to $65,000 [for a] backyard makeover, custom made by me and also $10,000 in cash."
All you have to do is a drop a picture of the backyard you want Starsiak Hawk to design using the hashtag #BushsBeautifulSummerContest. If you follow them, "you can win an entire backyard makeover and make all of your friends super jealous," she says.
The contest runs through July 18, so cross your fingers you're the lucky winner!
