NeNe Leakes Reveals Husband Gregg's Heartbreaking Final Words Before His Tragic Death

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star is revealing her husband Gregg’s final words to her before his tragic death.
The 61-year-old passed away at home on September 1 after a four-year battle with colon cancer.
“The last five days before his passing was really beautiful,” NeNe told PEOPLE. “All of his children were there. His best friends were there. Our closest friends were there. We all sat with him around the clock.”
Having loved ones around helped the 53-year-old reality TV star come to terms with the sadness of her husband’s ultimate passing. “We talked a lot, and we made peace with what was happening,” she added.
NeNe says her husband’s last words gave her a sense of peace. “I'm not going to leave you,” she recalled him telling her. “God is going to bless you.”

The fashion designer continued: “He said he wanted me to move on with my life.”
“I told him I wouldn't have chosen another husband other than him. I said, ‘I married you twice, crazy man,’” recalled NeNe, who tied the knot with Gregg in 1997, divorced him in 2011, and remarried him in 2013.
The Glee alum heartbreakingly revealed on Saturday, August 28, that her husband was “transitioning to the other side,” while speaking to customers at her restaurant, Linnethia Lounge, in Duluth, Georgia.
The New Normal star explained that during his “transition” she was there right by his side. “He took a deep breath, and then he stopped,” she noted, adding: “I thought I would be scared, but I just held him and kissed him.”
As she continues the grieving process, NeNe admitted she’s tricked her mind into thinking “he’s away on a trip and he’ll be right back,” adding “I’m still waiting for him to come home.”
