Alex Rodriguez had the rumor mill in overdrive after he was spotted leaving Katie Holmes’ apartment building in Manhattan on Sunday, June 13 — but don’t jump to conclusions just yet.
Those hoping that the 45-year-old and the newly single Dawson’s Creek alum, 42, are sparking up a new romance following her split from Emilio Vitolo Jr. will be disappointed. Following mounting speculation, Holmes’ rep has since confirmed, "She doesn't know him."
The former Yankees slugger has been spotted all over the Big Apple as his ex-fiancée Jennifer Lopez’s rekindled romance with Ben Affleck continues to make headlines — and he hasn’t exactly been in high spirits. As OK! previously reported, Rodriguez was spotted at New York City’s celeb hotspot Bar Pitti, where he somberly feasted on a solo meal.
His frown turned upside down days later however, when he reunited with his own ex — Cynthia Scurtis — for a workout. Rodriguez reposted a clip of their sweat sesh on Instagram featuring the 48-year-old attempting to wrap up his leg with ice. "Cynthia is a world class mommy to our girls...wrapping ice though?!?!?! LOL," Rodriguez wrote playfully. The two also posed for a photo with a pal, in which they both rocked beaming grins.

The athlete and Scurtis — who share Natasha, 16, and Ella, 13 — were previously married from 2002-2008. Scurtis filed for divorce in July 2008, citing “emotional abandonment” and “marital misconduct” in court documents. In 2018, they locked horns over child support — but it appears the two get along great now.
Still, the former flames’ meet-up raised more than a few eyebrows, considering Bennifer 2.0 has taken the world by storm. Affleck and the Hustlers star reunited just weeks after she ended her engagement to Rodriguez.
And it seems as though Rodriguez was the last thing on the 51-year-old’s mind as she and the Way Back actor, 48, shared a passionate smooch at Nobu in Malibu, Calif., on the same day Rodriguez was seen exiting Holmes’ apartment building.
Meanwhile, there's a good chance Holmes and Rodriguez won't be crossing paths in New York City anytime soon. As OK! previously reported, the actress — who shares Suri, 15, with Tom Cruise — is considering heading back to Los Angeles following her split from the 33-year-old restaurateur. "Katie's ready to move on," an insider previously told OK!, "in more ways than one."
E! was the first to report that Rodriguez and Holmes do not know each other.
