Though Lopez, 51, and Rodriguez, 45, were photographed together just last month and posted Instagram pics together as recently as February 28, a source recently said that they two were on the rocks — and the two are currently in separate parts of the world.
“He’s now in Miami getting ready for baseball season, and she’s filming her movie in the Dominican Republic,” the source told Page Six, who broke the bombshell news of the split.
Meanwhile, a source told PEOPLE, "This has been a long time coming."
As OK! exclusively reported, the “If You Had My Love” singer was keeping a close eye on her man in recent months after it was alleged that A-Rod had a secret affair with reality TV star Madison LeCroy.
“The whole scandal was a huge embarrassment for Jennifer,” a source told OK! at the time. “She is a total control freak when it comes to her image, and cheating rumors are not a good look, even when they are not true.
“You don’t get to be the biggest star in the world without paying close attention to every detail. Alex is surprisingly naïve when it comes to celebrity and fame," the insider added. "He doesn’t think about how every move he makes will be scrutinized and isn’t as careful as she is when it comes to social media.”
The drama began earlier this year when LeCroy’s costar Craig Conover claimed on the Southern Charm reunion that LeCroy “flew down to Miami” to meet up with a former MLB player. Rodriguez' name was suddenly thrown into the mix after Danni Baird said that he was the former Major League Baseball player LeCroy was DM'ing.
LeCroy quickly addressed the situation. "He contacted me, and yes, we DMed, but other than that there was nothing … I’ve never seen him [or] touched him," LeCroy insisted after it was implied that she hooked up with the athlete.
She continued to deny that she ever hooked up with Rodriguez behind Lopez’ back. "He’s never physically cheated on his fiancée with me," the 30-year-old explained to Page Six. According to LeCroy, the pair talked "randomly" and the conversation topics were "innocent."
Still, their twisted web continued to play out in the headlines.
But Lopez and Rodriguez put up a united front at the Super Bowl in February. Rodriguez shared a video on his Instagram on Sunday, February 7, where he and Lopez walked together after they exited a private jet.
"Aright we're making some predictions here, Jen who do you have today, Super Bowl?" the MLB star asked, as Lopez grunted in response. "We'll get back to you," Rodriguez replied.
Though they were engaged, Lopez and Rodriguez were forced to cancel their nuptials due to COVID-19 — and she was even spotted without her engagement ring in late December. She had previously stated that she was in “no rush” to marry Rodriguez.
Lopez had told Andy Cohen that she and the former New York Yankees star considered calling off their wedding completely. They originally planned to have the ceremony in Italy — a place that, at the time, was considered a hotspot for the disease.
Though she consistently made it clear that fans of the couple had nothing to worry about, Lopez is no stranger to splits. She was previously married to Marc Anthony, Cris Judd and Ojani Noa. She shares twins Emme and Max, 12 with Anthony.
Rodriguez was previously married to Cynthia Scurtis and shares two children as well: Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12.
It looks like another relationship for Lopez bites the dust…
