Pete Davidson Praises Bob Saget For Helping Him Through 'Some Rough Mental Health Stuff' After News Of Late 'Full House' Actor's Sudden Death
Pete Davidson paid a heartfelt tribute to Bob Saget following news of the Full House alum's sudden death.
Describing Saget as "one of the nicest men on the planet," the Saturday Night Live star recalled how the late actor impacted his life. "When I was younger and several times throughout our friendship he helped me get through some rough mental health stuff," Davidson wrote in a statement, shared on SNL writer Dave Sirus' Instagram page on Sunday, January 9, since the comedian doesn’t have social media.
“He stayed on the phone with my mom for hours trying to help in anyway he can – connecting us with doctors and new things we can try,” the 28-year-old, who has often discussed his mental health in his comedy skits, continued. “He would check in on me and make sure I was okay."
The King of Staten Island star wrapped up his message by thanking Saget for his "kindness and friendship."
"I love you Bob it was an honor to know you," Davidson concluded. "My condolences to the family."
Davidson previously opened up about his mental health struggles and how being in the public eye has impacted his life. Apart from sharing with fans in 2017 that he was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, he confessed in 2020: "I’ve always been suicidal, but I’ve never had the balls."
He's also touched on hitting rock bottom multiple times and seeking treatment after years of battling depression and anxiety.

Davidson's candid post about the impact Saget's friendship had on him comes after OK! reported the late actor was found dead over the weekend in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando following his performance in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, January 8. Saget was 65 years old.
A cause of death has yet to be revealed, but the Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed: "detectives found no signs of foul play or drug use in this case."
Tributes from costars and family have been pouring in ever since the tragic news broke, with Saget's family sharing they were "devasted" to confirm his death.
“He was everything to us and we want you to know how much he loved his fans, performing live and bringing people from all walks of life together with laughter,” his family said in a statement. "Though we ask for privacy at this time, we invite you to join us in remembering the love and laughter that Bob brought to the world."
Saget is survived by his wife, Kelly Rizzo, and his three children, whom he shares with ex-wife Sherri Kramer.
