Prince Andrew Rushes to Sarah Ferguson's Side After Breast Cancer Scare
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson broke up in 1996, but that didn't stop the Duke of York from caring for his former spouse when she had a recent health scare. The reality star recently had a single mastectomy, and Andrew and their two daughters, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, rushed to the Duchess of York's aid as she recovered from the procedure.
A representative for the Weight Watchers ambassador updated fans about her well-being. "Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening," the spokesperson told a publication. "She was advised she needed to undergo surgery which has taken place successfully. The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good. She is now recuperating with her family."
While Andrew, Eugenie and Beatrice take care of their matriarch, Ferguson's team shared that she was grateful for the medical professionals who helped her. "The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days," the statement read. "She is also hugely thankful to the staff involved in the mammogram which identified her illness, which was otherwise symptom-free, and believes her experience underlines the importance of regular screening."

The Royal Observer previously reported Ferguson was diagnosed with an early stage of carcinoma. "Sarah, Duchess of York was recently diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer detected at a routine mammogram screening. She was advised she needed to undergo surgery, which has taken place successfully," a rep said of the 63-year-old.
"The Duchess is receiving the best medical care and her doctors have told her that the prognosis is good. She is now recuperating with her family," they added. "The Duchess wants to express her immense gratitude to all the medical staff who have supported her in recent days."
Andrew supporting Ferguson after her surgery shouldn't come as a surprise to the British public. Currently, the exes live together at the Royal Lodge. Pandora Forsyth and Richard Palmer discussed the pair during an episode of the "Royal Round Up." "This is a very odd set-up, I won't lie, the actual set-up of it with a former married couple who live on either ends of the house," Forsyth said. "I mean, it does beg the question that, obviously, they are still quite close."
"It does, and of course, some people speculate that they are living there as a married couple, but [they] insist that's not the case," Palmer quickly replied.
"Lots of people would absolutely hate that idea of thinking of living their ex, [it] would just be hell. I find that the weird part of the story," Forsyth added.
