After taking the world by storm with her Meghan Markle and Prince Harry interview, Oprah Winfrey delved into a heart-to-heart with Priyanka Chopra.
In her "Super Soul" interview, which aired on discovery+ on Saturday, March 20, the White Tiger actress opened up about a number of subjects, including her childhood, career, family and marriage, on the heels of her best-selling memoir, Unfinished.
“I was told to have an opinion in a room that disagreed with me," she told Oprah. "I was always encouraged to have a voice."
The 38-year-old revealed that when she moved to Boston from India at the age of 16, she was a target of intense bullying of racial kind.
“High school is hard anyway," she said. "To be coming of age, to understand your body as a woman. At the same time being devalued for something I couldn’t change. I wasn’t aware that this is something I should feel embarrassed about.”
During the interview, the famed host also brought up the topic of Nick Jonas and how Chopra has written in the memoir that her mother “dreamed” him up. The Quantico star said that when she first looked at her now husband, she may have “judged the book by the cover."
"I didn’t honestly take it very seriously when Nick was texting me," she added. "I was 35, I was like, ‘I want to get married, I want to have kids. He’s in his 20s, I don’t know if that’s something he’d want to do’. I did that to myself for a while, till I actually went out with him.”
