They’re set to celebrate 11 years together this month, but there’s growing concern that Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling won’t last much longer.
According to an insider, the private pair — who share daughters Esmeralda, 7, and Amada, 5 — are hitting their breaking point over the actress’ reclusive ways.
“They rarely socialize,” the insider says of the couple. “It’s tough on Ryan to live like a hermit.”
The Hitch star, 47, and hunky actor, 41 — who met on the set of 2012’s The Place Beyond the Pines — are known to opt out of mingling at Hollywood parties, preferring to spend time with their family instead. (In 2020, Mendes informed a fan who told her to get out more that she’d “rather be home with my man than anywhere else in the world.”) But that doesn’t always seem to be the case for Gosling.
“He adores Eva,” confides the insider, “but it’s clear when you spend time with him that there’s something amiss.”
Mendes withdrawing from the public eye hasn’t just affected her career (the actress’ last film was 2014’s Lost River), but it’s also held her back from being by Gosling's side when he needed her most.

In 2017, she was MIA from the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, at which her partner took home the honor of best actor for his role in La La Land.
Though he thanked Mendes in his acceptance speech, “Ryan felt unsupported,” dishes the insider. “It bothers him to this day that she wasn’t there.”
In spite of their differences, those closest to Mendes and Gosling say the two are “willing to try” to make their relationship last — but given the circumstances, their future together seems uncertain.
“No one wants to see them break up,” notes the insider. “Pals are hopeful they’ll get their act together, though they’re not holding their breath.”
