Britney Spears remained a music industry force in Sam Asghari’s eyes, even three years after their divorce.
"The second that I realized what these songs meant, and why people resonated with [them] and why they were icons — like Michael Jackson, Madonna and her: the King of Pop, the Queen of Pop and the Princess of Pop — then I understood," he explained during a chat on SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio.

Sam Asghari praised Britney Spears' lasting impact on pop music while reflecting on her career.
During his conversation with Page Six, Asghari made clear that his feelings toward Spears' career were separate from their relationship history.
"At the end of the day, the artist is supposed to express themselves in their own way," he said.
He added, "I think once you’re one of those people — you’re titled [as] the Princess of Pop — you can say [anything] and it’s gonna become iconic."
Spears shares sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

Asghari, 32, admitted that he was not deeply familiar with Spears' music before meeting her in 2016. His perspective changed as he learned more about the impact she had on audiences.
He said, "It made me appreciate the music even more."

Sam Asghari Celebrated Britney Spears' Musical Legacy
Sam Asghari reflected on Britney Spears' lasting impact on the music industry and said few artists had been able to replicate the path she created.
Asghari also reflected on Spears’ lasting impact on the music industry.
"[Spears] sort of created a blueprint that nobody after that has ever really accomplished," he revealed.
Asghari added, "We see some artists now that are trying to do it, but it’s just not ever going to happen."
The comments came as Asghari continued to praise and speak positively of his former wife's music achievements. He first met Spears while working on the set of her "Slumber Party" music video in 2016, with the pair later making their relationship Instagram-official in 2017.
The couple became engaged in September 2021 before taking another major step in their relationship the following year.

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari started a family chapter before marrying in 2022, though their relationship later ended in divorce.
Spears and Asghari announced in April 2022 that they were expecting their first child together. The following month, however, they shared that they had "lost" their "miracle baby."
The pair married in June 2022 during a star-studded Los Angeles wedding attended by celebrities including Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, Madonna and Selena Gomez.
They remained married for 14 months before Asghari filed for divorce in August 2023, citing "irreconcilable differences."
TMZ subsequently reported that the couple separated after a "nuclear argument" connected to allegations of infidelity.
Despite the end of their marriage, Asghari maintained that his respect for Spears remained and that he has "always been supportive" of her.
