Bullock revealed that her daughter had some insight about who she should date.

"So I said, 'What? A rapper or basketball player? That’s the parameters, like, is that what it is?'" she recalled. "She’s like, ‘Yeah.’ I went, 'No.'"

The Ms. Congeniality actress knew Laila was only trying to "take care of mom" and appreciated the bluntness.

Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall started dating in 2015, though they never married.

The actress opened up last month on the "SmartLess" podcast about how her kids coped with the death of the man who helped raise them.

She explained her son handled the difficult time before her partner's death "very differently" from her daughter.

"About two years before Bryan passed, he saw it was a dynamic that wasn’t healthy for him to be around," she explained during the August 26 appearance. "So, he’s very evolved, he’s like, 'You know what, I’m here for you’ … but he chose to just sort of be there and support and help me on the things that were easy [for him]. But he smartly disengaged himself and said, ‘This is a safer space for me to sit,’ and I said, 'Absolutely, you go. I got this.'"

Sandra Bullock explained that Bryan Randall didn't want his diagnosis disclosed until after his death.

As for her daughter, she was more bonded to Randall "until about six months" before his death.

“And then she says, ‘Can you please say no when they call me over to go visit?’ and I said, ‘Absolutely, but if you do want to go visit, I will come with you and I will be right there and if you tap out, I’m right there,'" the Oscar winner explained.

Bullock recalled that Randall also asked her not to share his diagnosis before his death, which "isolated" her in the process.

“My sister [Gesine Bullock-Prado] was the only one who knew for a while. At first I go, ‘Oh, I can handle that. I can be quiet,'" she continued. “I think, where he was in his journey, both physically and mentally, I started grieving Bryan four years before he passed."
